With reference to the Foreign Ministry’s Press Release on 24 April 2008 concerning the Royal Thai Government’s acceptance of UNESCO’s invitation for a joint meeting with Cambodia in Paris on inscription of the Preah Vihear Temple to the World Heritage List, the Foreign Ministry was informed by UNESCO on 25 April 2008 that due to certain circumstances on UNESCO’s part, UNESCO proposed that Mr. Francesco Caruso, who has been appointed by UNESCO as coordinator between Thailand and Cambodia concerning the inscription of the Preah Vihear Temple to the World Heritage List, visits Thailand and Cambodia in May 2008 to discuss with the two sides on the said matter.
The Royal Thai Government welcomes the proposal and is ready to meet and discuss in good faith with Mr. Caruso on the pending issues so as to facilitate the process of inscribing the Temple.
