The 5th Annual Meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Training Institutes of ASEAN+3 will be held during 18 - 20 June, 2008 at Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok.
This year’s meeting is hosted by the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its theme “Building Regional Identity from Diversity” will be divided into sessions as follows : 1) Developing Professional and Organizational Cultures 2) Crisis Management 3) Forming Regional Identity and 4) Addressing Language Challenges.
The opening ceremony of the event will be presided over by Mr. Noppadon Pattama, Minister of Foreign Affairs on 18 June, 2008 at 18.30 hrs. and attended by members of diplomatic corps, international organizations, academics and representatives of both Thai and foreign training institutions.
After the welcoming remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, will deliver a keynote speech on the theme “Building Regional Identity from Diversity”.
The meeting is held annually to discuss and exchange views on matters regarding diplomatic training and to explore possible areas of cooperation among the ASEAN+3 diplomatic training institutions. The previous hosts of the meeting were Indonesia, the People’s Republic of China, Malaysia and Japan respectively.
