The Royal Thai Consulate to Kiev, Republic of Ukraine is now operating. The opening of the Royal Thai Consulate in Kiev will help to facilitate the travel arrangements for Ukrainian tourists to visit Thailand. The number of Ukrainian visitors to Thailand has been increasing, with over 24,000 Ukrainian traveling to the Kingdom last year. The opening of the Royal Thai Consulate in Kiev would also help promoting the Thai-Ukrainian bilateral relations.
During 12-15 May 2008, Mr. Sompong Sanguanbun, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy to Russia, led the Thai delegation to visit Kiev to handover the coat of arms and consular equipments. The visiting party also took this opportunity to provide training on consular matters to Mr. Mykhajlo Radoutskyy, Honorary Consul, and his staff members.
