This Website not only has information relevant to ASEAN meetings and sideline events but also information on ASEAN as well as Thailand’s activities to enhance ASEAN Awareness in 2008 particularly with youths. Fun section for youngsters could also be found at the “For Kids” section.
Thailand will officially launch this website to ASEAN Member Countries during the first (1/42) ASEAN Standing Committee (ASC) meeting that Thailand will host from 18 to 21 August in Bangkok.
The Summit’s Logo is the four hands adjoining around ASEAN. The “hands” represent the close cooperation between the people of the region in driving the ASEAN Community forward.
The three hands are the three ASEAN Communities while the fourth hand represents ASEAN’s external relations. The traditional flower-like design in the middle often appears in Thai mural paintings and architecture. Gold color is used to represent prosperity.
The three curvy green lines below the hands are symbolic representation of the ASEAN Charter illustrating ASEAN entering the period with the ASEAN Charter as the corner stone of community building. The 14th ASEAN Summit slogan is “ASEAN Charter for ASEAN Peoples”.
The official launching of Thai Young Ambassadors of Virtue and ASEAN Project
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated the Thai Young Ambassadors of Virtue Programme in 1999 to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 6th Cycle Anniversary.
One of our landmark projects in 2008 is the ASEAN quiz game with 1,330 schools affiliated with the Thai Young Ambassadors of Virtue throughout the country. In this activity, the ASEAN Department will send a tool kit called “ASEAN Traveler Game” in advance consisting of ASEAN quiz game, prizes as well as information on ASEAN as materials for each school to set up an ASEAN quiz game.
The ASEAN quiz game will be launched throughout the country on 8th August 2008, which commemorates the founding of ASEAN. It is our hope that through this activity, teachers as well as students throughout the whole country will gain a better knowledge and understanding of ASEAN as well as an enjoyable learning experience.
