On 5 September 2008, Mr. Tej Bunnag, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a reception at Vithes Samosorn of the Foreign Ministry for the Diplomatic Corps based in Thailand. The event was well attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, comprising Ambassadors, Consuls-General and Heads of International Organizations. High-ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry also participated in the reception.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Tej gave welcoming remarks stating the importance of Thai foreign policy’s continuity aiming at cultivating and enhancing good and productive relations with all countries.
Foreign Minister emphasized that the need for cooperation is important in today’s globalised world. Thailand is ready to spearhead efforts in Southeast Asia for collective action on today’s most pressing issues, i.e., food and energy crisis. In addition, Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship provides opportunities to create a neighbourhood of peace and security for all ASEAN peoples.
