Remarks by His Excellency Mr. Tej Bunnag, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, for the donation to the International Institute of Abhidhamma

Excellency U Mya Than, President and Pro-Rector of the International Institute of Abhidhamma,

Excellencies,

Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

  • 60 years ago today, Thailand and Myanmar established diplomatic relations. Since then, our two countries have enjoyed close and cordial relations.
  • As neighbours that share a long common border, our two peoples have lived side-by-side for centuries. Of the many deeply-rooted cultural ties binding us, Theravada Buddhism is one of the strongest.
  • As an institute dedicated to the propagation of the Abhidhamma in English, the International Institute of Abhidhamma helps to spread to spread deeper understanding of the Buddha’s higher teachings.
  • Today, I am highly honoured to visit the International Institute of Abhidhamma and to present a donation of 2,997.60 US dollars from the Maha Chulalongkorn Rajavidhayalaya University to support the Institute’s invaluable activities. I am confident that, based upon our mutual respect and shared values, the partnership will continue to flourish in the years to come. I wish the Institute every success in its undertakings.
