Bangkok--Sep 10--MFA
On 1 September 2008, eight Thai Muslim students recently receiving the scholarships of the Government of Bahrain, together with their parents, were granted an audience with H.H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain in Bangkok. The audience was granted during Bahraini Prime Minister’s private visit to Thailand and prior to the Thai students’ departure to study engineering, business administration and information technology at University of Manama. During the audience, H.H. Shaikh Khalifa wished them all the success and advised that they utilize knowledge gained from their studies to develop the country.
This first group of Thai Muslim students to study in Bahrain is a fruit of diplomatic work between Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) with the Bahraini sides, based on the close and cordial ties with Bahrain as Thailand’s close friend in the Middle East. Having agreed on the importance of human resource development as a contribution to sustainable development of the Southern Border Provinces of Thailand, both sides embark on this first educational cooperation.
Prime Minister of Bahrain has a crucial role in developing the strong relations both countries enjoy today. In his country, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa also plays a vital role in bringing about better life quality of the Bahraini people, resulting in UN HABITAT’s awarding Scroll of Honour (Special Citation) in recognition of His work. To celebrate Prime Minister of Bahrain’s achievement in Bangkok, the Embassy of Bahrain will organize an exhibition of His Highness’ works on development during 10-12 November 2008 at Siam Paragon. The opening of the exhibition will be presided over by H.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
