On 15 November 2008, Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Director-General of Department of ASEAN Affairs, deposited the Instrument of Ratification of the ASEAN Charter to Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, ASEAN Secretary-General, in Bangkok. With the ratification of the ASEAN Charter by all 10 ASEAN member countries, the ASEAN Charter will enter into force on 15 December 2008 during 14th ASEAN Summit to be held in Chiang Mai.
