Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the final round of the ASEAN Anthem Adjudicators’ Panel (A3P) to select the ASEAN Anthem

On 20 November 2008, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the final round of the ASEAN Anthem Adjudicators’ Panel (A3P) to select the ASEAN Anthem from 10 shortlisted songs at the Pullman King Power Hotel. Admiral Mom Luang Usni Pramoj, who represented Thailand, chaired the meeting.

The panel of judges consisted of Mr. Haji Manaf bin Haji Kamis (Brunei), Dr. Sam Ang Sam (Cambodia), Mr. Purwa Caraka (Indonesia), Mr. Khamphanh Phonthongsy (Laos), Mr. Ayob Ibrahim (Malaysia), Mr. Tin Oo Thaung (Myanmar), Mr. Apgripino V. Diestro (Philippines), Mr. Phoon Yew Tien (Singapore), Admiral Mom Luang Usni Pramoj (Thailand), Mr. Pham Hong Hai (Viet Nam) and three non-ASEAN adjudicators, namely, Ms. Sandra Milliken (Australia), Mr. Bao Yuan-Kai (China) and Ms. Keiko Harada (Japan). After extensive deliberations, the anthem named "ASEAN Anthem (The ASEANWay)" by Mr. Kittikhun Sodprasert, Mr. Sampao Triudom and Mrs. Payom Valaiphatchra from Thailand was selected as the ASEAN Anthem.

"ASEAN Anthem (The ASEANWay)" is one of the 10 songs, which were shortlisted out of the 99 songs submitted by ASEAN member countries. The winner will receive the honorary prize of 20,000 USD. Thailand will organize a concert to mark the launching of the ASEAN Anthem on 28 November 2008 at Aksra Theatre, King Power Complex. The anthem will also be played at the opening ceremony of the 14th ASEAN Summit in Chiang Mai on 15 December 2008.
