The Visit of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian of Denmark and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth, Crown Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat as private guests of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit between 24 — 28 November 2008

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian of Denmark and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth, Crown Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat will be visiting Thailand between 24 — 28 November 2008 as private guests of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Denmark is scheduled to arrive on Monday 24 November 2008 at 06.00 hrs. at Suvarnabhumi Airport by Thai Airways flight TG 971. His Royal Consort’s arrival in Suvarnabhumi Airport is at 06.50 hrs. on the same day by Thai Airways flight TG 951. Their Excellencies M.R. Thepkamol Devakula, Privy Councillor, and Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports, will receive Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark at their arrival.

Thailand and Denmark have had a close relationship since both countries established diplomatic relations on 21 May 1858. The Royal Families of Thailand and Denmark enjoy a close friendship and this has had a positive effect on other aspects of the relationship, particularly on cooperation between the two countries.

In 2007, the total trade value between Thailand and Denmark rose by 7.9 percent from 2006 to 626.6 million US Dollars, including 420.9 million US dollars in exports to Denmark, and 205.7 million US Dollars in imports from Denmark. Thailand’s main exports to Denmark include shoes, clothing, precious stones and jewelries. Thailand imports from Denmark include machineries, pharmaceuticals, medical equipments, and alternative energy technologies, among others. In the same year, there were 17 Danish projects worth 505 million US dollars invested in Thailand in various areas such as footwear production, logistics, and alternative energy resources.

During Their stay in Thailand, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark are scheduled for a number of important engagements. To begin with, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark will attend the official opening of the Royal visit, the Danish Lifestyle Exhibition and celebration of the 150th anniversary on Monday, 24 November 2008 at 18.00 hrs. at Central World Department Store. In addition, they will attend a formal dinner on Monday, 24 November 2008 at 20.00 hrs. at Centara Grand Hotel, as well as the official opening of “Denmark and Danish Business in Thailand 2008 Business Forum” on Tuesday, 25 November 2551 at 09.30 hrs. at Centara Grand Hotel. Along with, Their Majesties the King and Queen have granted a royal audience to Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark on 25 November 2008 at 17.00 hrs. at Klai Kangwol Palace, Hua Hin District, Prachuab Khiri Khan.

Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark will depart Bangkok for Copenhagen on Friday, 28 November 2008 at 10.00 hrs. by a private jet where Their Excellencies M.R. Thepkamol Devakula, Privy Councillor and Police Captain Chalerm Ubumrung, Minister of Public Health, will bid them farewell at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik Andr? Henrik Christian of Denmark is the elder son of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Consort Henrik. His latest visit to Thailand was accompanied by Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Denmark in 2005 for a memorial service for Tsunami victims which was hosted by the Danish Government in Pang-nga and Phuket. This forthcoming visit will be his forth visit.
