The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand is organizing a concert on 28 November 2008 at Aksra Theatre, King Power Complex, to mark the launching of the ASEAN Anthem. H.E. Prime Minister Mr. Somchai Wongsawat will preside over the opening ceremony.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand is organizing a concert on 28 November 2008 at Aksra Theatre, King Power Complex, to mark the launching of the ASEAN Anthem. H.E. Prime Minister Mr. Somchai Wongsawat will preside over the opening ceremony. It is the first time the ASEAN Anthem will be played to the general public following the competition which saw the selection of “The ASEAN Way” as the ASEAN Anthem.

The Royal Thai Navy Symphony Orchestra with Captain Narong Sangboot as conductor will also be performing the favourite songs from ASEAN Member Countries which include Dang Mengalai (Brunei Darussalam), Regret (Cambodia), Bengawan Solo (Indonesia), Coulap Paksan (Laos), Benih Harapan (Malaysia), Emerald Lake (Myanmar), Anak (The Philippines), Symphonic Suite on a Set of Local Tunes (Singapore), Lao Duang Duen (Thailand) and Rhapsodie Viet Nam (Viet Nam). Programme is as attached.

“The ASEAN Way” composed by Mr. Kittikhun Sodprasert, Mr. Sampao Triudom and Mrs. Payom Valaiphatchra is one of the 99 songs submitted by ASEAN member countries, which were shortlisted from a panel of adjudicators consisted of 10 judges from member countries and three judges from non-ASEAN countries. The winner will receive the honorary prize of 20,000 USD.
