Government and Private Sector discuss the impact of the closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport

On December 1, 2008, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Sompong Amornvivat, ,Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Olarn Chaiprawat, Tourism and Sports Minister Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Finance Minister Mr. Suchart Tadathamrongvej, Industry Minister Pol Gen Pracha Promnok, and high ranking officers from various Ministries as well as around 200 representatives from the private sectors met to discuss the impact from the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The representatives of the private sector had proposed various measures to alleviate the negative impact resulting from the said incident such as stranded local and foreign passengers in Thailand and Thai passengers abroad, cargo transportation and other export-related logistics. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sompong stated that he would convey the private sector’s proposals for the cabinet’s consideration accordingly.
