President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste official visit as guest of the Thai government

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Dr. Jos? Ramos-Horta, the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, will pay an official visit to Thailand from 11th to 13th January 2009. This visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation with Thailand, as well as enhancing bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The visit will be the first official visit of His Excellency Dr. Ramos-Horta, as the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

During the visit, His Excellency the President will have an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Klai Kangwon Palace. There will be an official welcoming ceremony to be followed by a bilateral consultation with the Prime Minister, who will also host a luncheon for His Excellency the President and his delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Furthermore, His Excellency the President will deliver a keynote speech titled “Is Long Lasting Peace an Attainable Dream?”, to be followed by the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science at the Ramkhamhaeng University.
