The Official Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, 25-26 January 2009

Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand is scheduled to lead the Thai delegation to pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 25-26 January 2009 at the invitation of Mr. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs will have an audience with His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, pay courtesy calls on Cambodian leaders namely Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and have bilateral meeting with Mr. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Main purpose of the forthcoming visit is to introduce himself and make acquaintance with top Cambodian leaders after assuming the office as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand on the basis of customary practice. Moreover, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will also take this occasion to hold talks and exchange views with his Cambodian counterpart with a view to expediting the cooperation both at bilateral and multi-lateral levels. This would be beneficial to both sides’ effort to strengthen their cordial relations and the promotion of mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples.
