Chief, Creative Economy Programme of UNCTAD paid a courtesy call on Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs

On 11 March 2009, Ms. Edna dos Santos-Duisenberg, Chief, Creative Economy Programme of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) paid a courtesy call on Mr. Panich Vikitsreth, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Dr. Manaspas Xuto, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the courtesy call, both sides discussed about the cooperation between Thailand and UNCTAD on creative economy. Ms. dos Santos-Duisenberg expressed her admiration for Thailand’s creative products. She said that Thailand ranked among the top in global creative production and that Thailand had high potential as its products were of wide varieties and unique from other countries’.

Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Thailand’s keen interest in cooperating with UNCTAD in creative economy and in other fields of development, while Ms. dos Santos-Duisenberg responded that it was stimulating to learn of Thailand’s emphasis in this issue at the policy level. She also said that in today’s challenge, it was important to be creative to stimulate domestic and international economy.
