Thailand always opens its door for foreign businessmen

On 24 March 2009, Mr. Surapon Petch-Vra, Thai Consul-General to Kota Bharu, led a group of ten businessmen from Kelantan State of Malaysia to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of the visit was to explore ways and means of economic cooperation between Kelantan and Thailand.

Foreign Minister Kasit welcomed the group and informed that he recently had the honour to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, during his recent State Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, and to receive and welcome Malaysian Prime Minister as well as Foreign Minister who attended the 14th ASEAN Summit in Cha-am — Hua Hin.

Foreign Minister Kasit wished to see the economic initiative and cooperation carried out between Thailand and Kelantan in a concrete mean, particularly in the construction industry. He also pointed out the facts that five-million foreign tourists traveling to Southern Thailand and logistics gateway through the East — West Corridor will offer great opportunities to the latter’s industry.

Mr. Chan Chuen Ung, the group representative, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the Thai side and said that the visiting group had strong interest in introducing Thailand’s cement and concrete products into the Malaysian market. To that regards, Foreign Minister Kasit reiterated the transparency and adherence to the rule of law of the Royal Thai Government to ensure the confidence of foreign investors. .
