On 29 May 2009, Mr. Najibullah Mones Assifi, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative to Thailand and Deputy Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific Regional Office, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to present his Letter of Appointment from the UNFPA Executive Director on his assumption of office. Both sides discussed various issues such as the setting up of UNFPA Asia / Pacific Regional Office in Thailand, and the cooperation between Thailand and UNFPA in the areas of public health and health care.
Later, Foreign Minister Kasit received Mr. Christian Brunner, Head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation. Mr. Brunner expressed his appreciation for Thailand’s considerable financial contribution to the organisation and exchanged views with the Foreign Minister on ICRC’s role and activities in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region.
