Foreign Minister Kasit chairs a meeting with political appointees

World News Tuesday June 16, 2009 15:44 —Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 15 June 2009, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired a meeting with political appointees who currently serve as vice ministers, advisors and secretaries to ministers at the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting aimed to network and foster closer relations between the Foreign Ministry and the political appointees in different ministries. During the meeting, FM Kasit stated that today provincial issues are no longer confined domestically but are echoed internationally in New York and Geneva. For example, issues such as Thailand’s procurement of medicine for influenza A (H1N1) or projects undertaken by Thailand as a donor country for its neighboring countries involve coordination of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Industry. Close collaboration and flow of information between the Ministry and the other ministries are therefore necessary for the government’s work to be carried out smoothly.
