Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, is scheduled to travel to Bahrain to co-chair the 1st ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting with Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, in Manama on 30 June 2009.
The First ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting is an important milestone for both groupings as it provides the first opportunity for the 16 Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and GCC to meet in full. The Meeting will exchange views on the enhancement of partnership between the two regions in such areas as trade, investment, intellectual property, energy security, food security, agriculture, transportation, tourism, environment and people-to-people contact.
During the Meeting, Thailand and Bahrain will jointly organize a Cultural Exhibition where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, together with the Thai agencies concerned and private sector, will display halal food products from the southern provinces of the country. The Thai Halal Exhibition will be opened to the public between 30 June to 1 July 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa in Manama.
