Iranian Ambassador to Thailand pays courtesy call on Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs

On 21 August 2009, Mr. Majid Bizmark, Iranian Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mr. Panich Vikitsreth, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Gist as follows:

Both sides welcomed the progress of bilateral relations between Thailand and Iran in various fields, including cooperation on trade, investment and energy. They agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in these fields and to encourage the two sides to set up a Joint Economic Commission between Thailand and Iran, as an important mechanism to increase trade and investment cooperation.

Vice Minister Panich thanked the Iranian side for its continued support for Thailand in the international arena, including the 36th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Republic in mid-May 2009. He affirmed that Thailand regarded Iran as an important partner and looked forward to strengthening cooperation with them at all levels. Both sides also discussed and exchanged views on other issues such as exchange of high-level representatives from both countries and the pending agreements, including the Transfer of Sentenced Persons between Thailand and Iran.
