The Entry into force of the Treaty between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Poland on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters

The Treaty between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Poland on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters entered into force on 4 October 2009, after Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Thailand and Under-secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, have signed the Treaty on 26 February 2004, and H.E. Mr. Panich Vikitsretch, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Jacek Najder, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland have met in Warsaw for the purpose of exchanging instruments of ratification of the Treaty On 4 September 2009. By virtue of its Article 20 paragraph 2, the Treaty shall enter into force 30 days after the date of exchange of the instruments of ratification. Therefore, the said Treaty entered into force on 4 October 2009.

This Treaty marks another dimension in co-operative endeavour, covering the judicial field between the two countries. Thailand attaches great importance to the objective of this Treaty as it provides mutual assistance in criminal matters in connection with investigations, prosecutions, or other proceedings. This Treaty also serves as a framework to strengthen co-operative endeavour in law enforcement, and the administration of justice.
