Ms. Chompoonute Nakornthap, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered an inaugural speech at the High Level Intergovernmental Meeting to Review Regional Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and its Regional and Global Outcomes on 16 November 2009 at 9.30 hrs at United Nations Convention Centre, Bangkok.
The participants of the said events includes H.E. Ms. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, State Minister, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Tashi Wangmo, Member of Parliament, National Council of Bhutan and Ms. Meng Xiaosi, Vice Chairperson, National Working Committee on Children and Women of the State Council, and Vice President, All-China Women’s Federation of China.
The meeting which last 3 days aimed to review the implementation in the Asia-Pacific region of the Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action which are the most framework for women’s development. The outcome of the regional review is expected to contribute to the global review and appraisal of the implementation of the Platform for Action by the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women at its fifty-fourth session, to be held in New York in March 2010.
