Cambodia allows detained Siwarak Chutipong’s family and Thai officials a visit

On 25 November 2009, Miss Vimon Kidchob, Director-General of the Department of Information and Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson, held a press briefing on the latest development regarding Mr. Siwarak Chutipong, the Thai engineer who has been arrested by Cambodian police, at the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry Spokesperson stated that pursuant to the Royal Thai Government’s request, the Royal Cambodian Government had today sent an official note to inform that the permission to visit Mr. Siwarak by his family members and Thai officials had been granted. The visit is scheduled for 27 November 2009 at 1400 hrs.

The Ministry Spokesperson added that Miss Madurapochana Ittarong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, would travel to Cambodia along with Mr. Siwarak’s family members --- Mrs. Simarak na Nakon Panom, his mother, and Mr. Pongsuree Chutipong, his younger brother.
