Official Launching of Website thaiafrica.net

On 30 November 2009, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will preside over the launching ceremony of the website www.thaiafrica.net at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event will be attended by over 200 distinguished guests, ranging from ambassadors from African countries and honorary consuls to Thailand, representatives from public and private sectors as well as interested individuals.

The objective of website www.thaiafrica.net is mainly to stimulate interest in Africa of Thai private sector and general public and to fostering a better understanding on political and economic developments, cultural heritage and natural beauty of Africa in Thai society. It will also serve as an on-line platform for social network where sharing and exchanging knowledge and experiences concerning the African continent of take place, creating an up-to-date and accurate database for organizations, businessmen, investors, educational institutions and interested individuals.

The launching ceremony will be followed by a seminar titled “Thailand-Africa: Discover the Missing Links” in which the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Kenya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of South Africa and the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be distinguished panelists, with Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp as moderator. Each panelist will share exclusive information of their respective country and discuss all possible means to promote linkage between Thailand and Africa. Participants will also obtain additional information from the display kiosks arranged by Embassy of South Africa, Embassy of Nigeria, Kenyan Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates Airlines and Association des Camerounais (in Thailand).
