On 7 January 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya welcomed Mr. Zeljko Cimbur, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Thailand with residence in Jakarta, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand to present the letter of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand.
On this occasion, Ambassador Cimbur thanked the Thai Foreign Minister for the warm welcome and took this opportunity to elaborate the latest development on Croatia’s accession to the EU. The Ambassador also mentioned about Croatian tourism industry along the coastal line of Adriatic Sea and expressed Croatia’s readiness to cooperate with Thailand in developing tourism industry of both countries. The Foreign Minister emphasized Thailand’s intention to strengthen the bilateral relations with Croatia, particularly in enhancing cooperation in the areas which both countries have expertise such as tourism, fishery, science and technology.
Later on the same day, Foreign Minister Kasit received His Royal Highness Crown Prince Tupouto’a Lavaka, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Tonga to Thailand with residence in Canberra, on the occasion of HRH‘s visit to Thailand to present the Letter of Credence accrediting him as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand.
Foreign Minister Kasit discussed with the Crown Prince of Tonga ways and means to strengthen bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two Kingdoms in various areas such as agriculture, knowledge-sharing on alternative energy, especially production of ethanol from tapioca, and public health which Thailand can offer training for Tongan medical personnel in Thailand.
