Djibouti Ambassador to Thailand with residence in Tokyo, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of his assumption of duties in the Kingdom at the Foreign Ministry.

On 8 January 2010, Mr. Ahmed Araita Ali, Djibouti Ambassador to Thailand with residence in Tokyo, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of his assumption of duties in the Kingdom at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Kasit affirmed Thailand’s readiness to enhance relations and cooperation with Djibouti in various areas, especially agriculture, services, tourism and education which Thailand has expertise and experience. He expressed hope that Thailand and Djibouti gave priority towards getting to know more about each other which would help lay down solid foundation for further cooperation and bilateral ties. Foreign Minister Kasit also informed the Ambassador of the Thai Foreign Ministry’s recently-launched website www.thaiafrica.net aiming to provide useful information about African countries. The Djibouti Ambassador showed keen interest in the website and his willingness to supply more information about his country to the Thai Foreign Ministry.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on various issues, including possibility of doing business in Djibouti who is a member of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), G-to-G rice sale and international situation in the African region.
