The Thai Foreign Ministry’s assistance to Thai Nationals in Haiti

Pursuant to the powerful earthquake that hit the Southern part of Haiti on 12 January 2010 causing major loss of lives and tremendous damage to buildings and infrastructures in many areas of the country, the Thai Foreign Ministry has been checking information about the whereabouts and well-being of Thai nationals affected by this catastrophe. At this moment, the Thai Foreign Ministry has been informed by relatives of working/living Thai nationals in Haiti that the four Thai nationals working there are safe.

In addition, the Royal Thai Government has decided to initially donate 20,000 US dollars for humanitarian assistance in Haiti. At the same time, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will send a condolences message to the President of Haiti as well.
