Foreign Minister Kasit expressed appreciation for Mexico’s fast move in disaster relief in Haiti. He also requested the Mexican Government to help procure and deliver supplies in need on behalf of the Thai Government to the affected Haitians with Thailand’s financial assistance. Ambassador Espinosa accepted the request and thanked Thailand for its confidence in Mexico.

On bilateral cooperation, both sides agreed to promote people-to-people contacts so that both sides could learn more about each other. Foreign Minister Kasit proposed that the exchange of academicians interested in either side’s region be explored. They were also of views that cultural exchange and museum and archeological site management be further enhanced. Since Mexico will be celebrating the Centenary of Mexican Revolution in 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit informed the Mexican Foreign Minister of Thailand’s readiness to send a cultural troupe to perform in Mexico during the celebration.

In addition, both sides extensively exchanged views on climate change and agreed that numerous measures suitable for each group of countries of different development levels should be pushed forward.
