Thailand to support Mongolia in its national development

On 16 January 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs held bilateral meeting with Mr. Damdin Tsogtbaatar, Mongolia’s State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka during the 4th Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Foreign Minister’s Meeting in Tokyo. Gist as follows:

Mr. Tsogtbaatar informed Foreign Minister Kasit of the planned official visit to Thailand of the Mongolian Foreign Minister later this year and that the Mongolian side hoped to be able to sign the Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection with Thailand during the visit. He also referred to the Agreement on Visa Exemption signed in 2007 which has contributed to the increase in number of Mongolian visitors to Thailand as tourists and medical service recipients. In addition, Mr. Tsogtbaatar requested Thailand to share its experience on tourism promotion, food industry, exportation and Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA) which Mongolia has been under negotiation with Japan.

Foreign Minister Kasit mentioned about close and long time relations between the two countries and Thailand‘s continued assistance to Mongolia in human resource development contributing to its national development and in reviving Buddhism in the country. He also affirmed Thailand’s willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in bilateral and multilateral as well as trilateral frameworks to further develop the country. Moreover, Foreign minister Kasit pledged to consult with authorities concerned to provide more opportunities for Mongolian students to further their studies in Thailand.
