Thai-Swiss sign Air Services Agreement

On 18 January 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya together with Mrs. Christine Schraner Burgener, Swiss Ambassador to Thailand, signed the “Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand for Air Services between and beyond Their Respective Territories, at Buakaew Room of the Foreign Ministry.

The Agreement, which is the amended version of the one signed in 1984, aims to keep up with development in the aviation sector. Both sides agreed that their designated airlines would be permitted to operate with unlimited number of frequencies both for passengers and cargo.

The Agreement would also help promoting the aviation, trade, and tourism, as well as the cordial relations between the two countries.

Currently, there are 15 direct flights operating weekly between Thailand and Switzerland consisting of 14 flights flying between Bangkok and Zurich and 1 flight between Zurich and Phuket.
