Activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Sino — Thai diplomatic relations

On 20 January 2010, Mr. Feng Zuoku, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of the visit was to discuss activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and China i.e. a golf tournament in Thailand between Thai - Chinese businessmen, a badminton tournament in China and a car rally from Bangkok to Beijing.

The Chinese People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries was established on 3 May 1954, as a public agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. The Association has close relations with Thailand in 3 levels namely Royal Family, government and people/ association. During the past 35 years, the Association has received 180 delegations from Thailand. It has bestowed the title of “Goodwill Ambassador” to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and has welcomed Her Royal Highness on the occasion of her visit to Beijing to receive the Chinese Connection — Top Ten International Friends of China Award presented by the China Radio International on 8 December 2009.
