Thailand — Egypt relations strengthened

On 22 January 2010, Mr. Ahmed Fathalla, Assistant Minister for Asian Affairs of Egypt, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand to attend the 4th Thailand-Egypt Consultative Meeting at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Kasit thanked Egyptian side for successfully hosting the 15th NAM Summit in Sharm El Sheikh in July 2009. He reiterated that the relationship between the two countries had been moving forward, and Thailand stood ready to promote more interaction with Egypt.

On this occasion, Mr. Fathalla referred to the result of the 4th Thailand-Egypt Consultative Meeting held earlier in the morning of the same day that both sides agreed to enhance more bilateral cooperation in such areas as trade and investment, security, tourism and aviation, public health, culture, and education. The Meeting also discussed about preparation of the 3rd AMED (Asia-Middle East Dialogue) Ministerial Meeting to be held in Thailand later this year.

During the visit to Thailand, Mr. Fathalla is scheduled to meet with Thai private sector such as the Thai-Egyptian Business Council and the PTT Plc. to talk about ways and means to promote more trade and investment between the two nations.
