On 1 February 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya hosted a reception for Ambassadors and Diplomatic Corps based in Geneva to campaign for Thailand’s candidature for membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), for the term 2010-2013. The reception was attended by Ambassadors and representatives from countries in different regions, such as France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Argentina, Kenya, India, Brazil, Turkey and Sri Lanka. The elections for membership in the HRC are scheduled to take place in May 2010 in New York.
