Cambodian Prime Minister’s visit to areas along Thai-Cambodian border

World News Monday February 8, 2010 08:44 —Ministry of Foreign Affairs

With reference to the visit by Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to areas along the Thai-Cambodian border between 6-8 February 2010, during which the Prime Minister might enter into Thai territory, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand wishes to reiterate the following:

1. The Royal Thai Government has no objections if the Cambodian Prime Minister wishes to enter into Thai territory. However, the Cambodian side must first inform and request prior permission from the Royal Thai Government. The Royal Thai Government would then send an appropriate representative to welcome the Cambodian Prime Minister.

2. The visit would not have any effect in any way on the legal claims previously made by Thailand over the Thai territory. Such claims still remain valid and Thailand still fully retains all her rights applicable under international law.
