New Commander of U.S. Pacific Command pays a courtesy call on Thai Foreign Minister

On 5 February 2010, Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander, U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of his assumption of office, at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Kasit congratulated the close and cordial military cooperation between Thailand and the United States which is crucial to the stability of the region. The military exercise “Cobra Gold 2010” between the two countries is the most important and the biggest joint exercise in South East Asia. The U.S. Commander thanked Thailand for her cooperation and contribution to the said exercise.

In addition, both sides also exchanged views on various regional issues of common concern, particularly those affecting regional security and integration.
