Official Visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya and the Spouse to Thailand as Guests of the Royal Thai Governement

During 15-16 February 2010, Mr. Raila Amolla Odinga, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, and his spouse, Mrs. Ida Odinga, will be visiting Thailand as guests of the Royal Thai Government to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Odinga is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of Thailand, and to hold a bilateral talk at the Government House. In the same evening, Prime Minister Abhisit will host a dinner in honour of his Kenyan counterpart.

The 1st Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between the Government of Thailand and the Government of Kenya, chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, will be held in Kenya at the earliest opportunity. The said meeting will be an important mechanism to enhance relationship between both sides.

Before assumption of office in 2008, Prime Minister Odinga was the Minister of Energy and the Minister of Transport, Public Works and Housing. He supports the policy of multi-party system.
