Thai Immigration Bureau provides financial assistance to Haiti through the Foreign Ministry

On 2 March 2010, Pol. Maj. Gen. Visanu Prasattongosoth, Commander of Immigration Division 2, led a delegation from the Immigration Bureau to present a donation of Baht 225,000 to Mr. Panich Vikitsreth, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to support the foundation for assistance and rehabilitation of Haitian people affected by the earthquake. The Foreign Ministry will coordinate with the United Nations in channeling the said contribution to help Haiti accordingly.

Vice Foreign Minister Panich expressed his appreciation to the Immigration Bureau in setting up donation boxes at the Departure Hall, Suvarnabhumi Airport. He also talked about the latest development regarding Thailand’s humanitarian assistance to Haiti that the World Food Program (WFP) is coordinating with the major international sea-freight companies and the Government of New Zealand to support the logistical cost of the second shipment of Thai rice to Haiti.
