On 9 March 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, handed over the letter of intent of the Royal Thai Government to provide humanitarian assistance in the amount of 100,000 US dollars to Chile. Mr. Alberto Yoacham Soffia, Ambassador of Chile to Thailand received the said letter in the ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry.
The assistance is Thailand’s contribution to alleviating the impact of the massive earthquake in Chile on 27 February 2010. The Royal Thai Government, during the cabinet meeting on 2 March 2010, approved the donation in view of the long standing friendship between the two countries. Thailand hopes that Chile will recover from the tragic disaster and the Chilean people’s livelihood will return to normalcy soon.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Santiago will present the cheque in the aforesaid amount to the Chilean government accordingly.
