Thai — Polish bilateral ties strengthened

On 9 March 2010, Mr. Pawel Wojciechowski, Under-Secretary of State of Poland, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, on the occasion of the former’s visit to Thailand during 7 — 9 March 2010.

Foreign Minister Kasit welcomed Mr. Wojciechowski and discussed with his Polish counterpart on ways and means to promote trade and investment, tourism, as well as cooperation in the areas of culture, education, and science and technology between the two countries. The Thai Foreign Minister also stated the potential of Thailand and Poland in food producing and food processing industries that both countries should join hands in developing the related technology. With regards to tourism, both sides shared the views on promotion of religious and cultural tours for the peoples of the two nations. They further exchanged views on joint historical research in order to promote better understanding among neighbouring countries.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit also requested Poland to support Thailand’s candidature for the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2010 — 2013, of which election will take place in New York in May 2010.
