Qatari business delegation pays a courtesy call on Foreign Minister

On 25 March 2010, a group of 15 Qatari businessmen led by Ambassador of Thailand to the State of Qatar, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of their visit to Thailand to explore the opportunities of trade and investment, especially in the food and agriculture sectors, at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Kasit expressed his hope that this visit would enhance the relations and network between the private sectors of both countries. Thailand is the capital of the world food processing industries and the Kingdom stands ready to open its door to the investment of Qatari entrepreneurs. The Foreign Minister stated that Thailand would like to seek assistance from Qatar in developing its Halal food production so that it would be up to accepted Halal standard, and in adaptation of the Thai Halal food taste to suite the Middle East market. The Qatari investors could do so by undertaking join venture business and advise the Thai counterparts on the matter.

The visiting Qatari businessmen and investors expressed their appreciation to the Thai Foreign Ministry for giving priority to the Qatari private sector. They also thanked the Ministry for its assistance in facilitating appointments with the Thai counterparts. The Qatari delegation realized that Thailand is ready to be the world hub for food processing and agriculture, and believed that this visit would help increasing trade volume between Thailand and Qatar.
