On 26 March 2010 at Thailand Creative & Design Centre (TCDC), Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya presided over the discussion on “Paradigm Shift Towards Creative Economy” The discussion organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was attended by more than 40 Foreign Ministry’s officials besides panelists from public, private and academic sectors.
The discussion aims at increasing knowledge and understanding of the Foreign Ministry’s officials on how the Government moves forward its creative economy policy. Through learning from direct experiences of the entrepreneurs about the challenges and alternatives of Thailand at the world stage which is driven by the creative economy, the participating officials had learnt how to efficiently promote the interest of creative economy business sector overseas.
The discussion began with the opening remarks of the Foreign Minister followed by the welcome speech of the director of TCDC. After that, Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Deputy secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board, gave a lecture on strategy and policy of creative economy of the government. Then the panel discussion started with the representives of the four industrial sectors reflected the potential challenges and the problems as well as the roles of government in supporting the creative economy related business. The Foreign Minister and participating officials also joined the discussion, exchanged views on the issue and offered some recommendations.
