Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs meets with President of Tajikistan

On 4 April 2010, Mr. Panich Vikitsreth, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, along with Mr. Hamrokhon Zarifi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Farrukh Hamraliev, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, at the VIP Lounge of Suvarnnabhumi Airport.

On this occasion, both sides discussed and exchanged views on various issues such as the political situation in Thailand, economic development of Thailand and Tajikistan, bilateral trade and investment cooperation, the opening of Bangkok-Dushanbe air route by Somon Air, the national carrier of Tajikistan, Thailand’s academic assistance to Tajikistan, and tourism cooperation. They agreed that existing agreements on trade, investment and tourism should be used to expand cooperation concretely. In addition, both sides also discussed cooperation under the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference ) framework since Tajikistan will host and chair the OIC ministerial meeting in Dushanbe during 18-20 May 2010.

Thailand and Tajikistan has a close and cordial diplomatic relations, since the establishment of their bilateral ties on 5 August 2010.
