On 27 April 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the 3rd Meeting of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council (ASCC Council) at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, Vietnam. Gist as follows:
Foreign Minister of Thailand briefed on highlights of the progress and development that the ASCC Council has achieved during Thailand’s chairmanship. As one of the three pillars composing the ASEAN Community stipulated by the ASEAN Charter, the ASCC Council is the main body entrusted with the responsibility to ensure that all the aspiration and objectives under the ASCC Blueprint are effectively and expeditiously implemented, through promoting ASEAN awareness on education, promotion and protection of the right of women and children, environmental conservation and ASEAN Connectivity, especially on cultural and spiritual aspects.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Vietnam president over the inaugural ceremony of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children, Mrs. Saisuree Chutikul and Mrs. Kanda Vajrabhaya, Deputy Permanent Sectary of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security are representatives of Thailand to the Commission.
