On 29 April 2010, Mrs. Charuwan Thiemthad, Thai Ambassador to Mexico, attended the ceremony to install the Group of Friendship Mexico-Thailand at the Parliament building, Mexico City. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Omar Rodriquez Cisneros, member of the Mexican Parliament and President of the Group of Friendship, and 10 members of the Group of Friendship, who are members of the Mexican Parliament from different political parties, as well as other Mexican dignitaries.
On this occasion, Ambassador Charuwan delivered a speech welcoming the installment of the Group of Friendship, which will be another channel that will help enhance bilateral relationship between the two countries. Furthermore, she expressed her readiness to enhance closer relations between parliamentarians of both countries.
In addition, Ambassador Charuwan briefed all participants on the current political situation in Thailand and the effort by the Royal Thai Government to solve the problem in a peaceful manner, which has received support from the coalition parties as well as the private sector. She also hoped that members of the Group of Friendship and Mexican parliamentarians will have a clearer understanding about the current political situation in Thailand and will support the Royal Thai Government in solving the problem.
