Philippines Ambassador bids farewell to the Foreign Minister

On 12 May 2010, Mr. Antonio Venus Rodriguez, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of the completion of his mission in Thailand.

Foreign Minister Kasit expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Rodriguez for his determination and enthusiasm to strengthen close and cordial relations between Thailand and the Philippines. Foreign Minister Kasit also commended Ambassador Rodriguez for his active role as Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Thailand since 2008.

In addition, Foreign Minister Kasit congratulated the Philippines on success of the presidential and general elections conducted on 10 May 2010. The Royal Thai Government looks forward to working closely with the Philippines’ new administration to further strengthen both countries bilateral ties. Ambassador Rodriguez and Foreign Minister Kasit also exchanged views on Thailand political situation, which the Ambassador hoped that the situation would be resolved soon. The Foreign Minister hoped that the two countries can work together to promote democracy and human rights agenda in the ASEAN.

On the occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit also hosted a luncheon in honour of Ambassador Rodriguez.
