Thailand and Peru enhance their cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties

On 14 June 2010, Mr. Jorge Juan Castaneda Mendez, Peruvian Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of the former’s assumption of office.

The Foreign Minister congratulated Ambassador Mendez for being appointed as Peruvian Ambassador to Thailand for the second time and stressed that Thailand stood ready to enhance cooperation between the two countries under both bilateral and multilateral framework which Thailand and Peru are members such as ASEAN — MERCOSUR and Forum for East Asia — Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC). Foreign Minister Kasit viewed that the cooperation between the two countries should be focused in the areas that both sides have expertise such as agriculture, fishery, archeology, trade and investment.

Foreign Minister Kasit also urged both sides to exchange knowledge and general information as well as investment opportunity for a better understanding of the people and businessmen of the two countries which would further strengthen their cooperation in the future.
