On 8 July 2010, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of the completion of his mission in Thailand.

Apostolic Nuncio expressed his gratitude to the Royal Thai Government in collaborating with his seven-year mission in Thailand. He and the Vatican are glad to have contributed in strengthening both sides bilateral ties.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit thanked the Apostolic Nuncio for the latter’s active role during his assignment in Thailand, as well as his understanding in Thailand’s political situation and support to the Thai Government’s roadmap to resolve the problem. Foreign Minister Kasit also reassured the Apostolic Nuncio that the current government had committed in promoting Thailand’s multicultural society—where people from different beliefs respect one another, and emphasized Thailand’s readiness in cooperation with Vatican to support education in catholic schools in Thailand.

The meeting was followed by a luncheon hosted by the Thai Foreign Minister in honour of Archbishop Pennacchio at Sattabongkot Room, Foreign Ministry.
