Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the delegation of Thailand to the Informal Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from 16 to 17 July 2010. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 56 OSCE Participating States and 12 Partners for Co-operation, including Thailand, considered the major challenges in Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security and the means to move the security dialogue forward. The Ministers assigned the OSCE Permanent Council to discuss the possibility of holding an OSCE Summit in Kazakhstan at the end of this year to further consider the above-mentioned matters at the level of the Heads of State and Heads of Government.
Additionally, Foreign Minister Kasit took this opportunity to hold a number of bilateral meetings with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of various countries such as Spain, Slovenia and Israel to further strengthen the bilateral ties between Thailand and those countries and to discuss the issues of mutual interests. The Thai Honorary Consul to Kazakhstan also paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit to discuss the ways to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan at all levels.
