Brazilian Ambassador to Thailand bids farewell to Foreign Minister Kasit

On 6 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Edgard Telles Ribeiro, Ambassador of Brazil to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the completion of his assignment to the Kingdom.

Foreign Minister Kasit expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Ribeiro for his active role in strengthening the close and cordial relations between Thailand - Brazil. He also thanked Brazil, as President of the 34th Session of the World Heritage Committee Meeting, for its important role in coordinating with the parties concerned to adopt the Decision on the issue of Phra Viharn Temple. Foreign Minister Kasit also commended Brazil’s prominent role in the global community.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit expressed his intention to enhance cooperation with Brazil in the areas of trade, investment and renewable energy. Both sides concurred that the two countries should also promote their relations in the bilateral and multilateral frameworks such as the ASEAN — MERCOSUR and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), which both countries play the important role. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Kasit informed the Brazilian Ambassador of his wish to visit Brazil in the near future.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Kasit also hosted a luncheon in honour of Ambassador Ribeiro.
