During 12-14 August 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the non-resident diplomatic corps to visit the royal-initiated projects in Phetchburi Province. Participated by 22 of the non-resident diplomatic corps, the project was aimed at promoting His Majesty the King’s initiated development projects to improve the quality of life of the Thai people and providing the diplomatic corps with an opportunity to learn more about the concepts and the theories graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King in various aspects to support the national development with their practical techniques.
On 12 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the non-resident diplomatic corps to pay a courtesy call to Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of Thailand, at the Government House. The Prime Minister briefed the visiting diplomatic corps about the Thailand’s current political situation and economy which is growing strongly. On the political aspect, Thailand has stability and security though it has to keep Emergency Decree in some provinces. On the foreign policy, Thailand intends to develop cooperation with foreign countries in the areas of economic, trade and investment.
On 13 August 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit led the diplomatic corps to Phetchburi Province to visit the King’s Royal-Initiated Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project. The diplomatic corps received a lecture from Prof. Dr. Kasem Chunkao, Project Director, and observed the garbage and wastewater disposal and management that could be applied in any community. After that, the group went to the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park and received a briefing by Asst. Prof. Dr. Seree Supharatid, Director of Energy for Environment Centre and Manager of the Park, before touring an exhibition on the sufficiency economy. Later on, the diplomatic corps visited the Mrigadayavan Palace to see an exhibition on the royal activities of King Rama VI.
